Miley Ray Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee and raised in Thompson's Station, Tennessee to Tish Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus. Five siblings are hers - two half-brothers, one half-sister, and two younger siblings. She was named Miley by her family because she represented a huge hope for them. Miley was nicknamed Smiley in her youth and was rewarded for being cheerful. Ron Cyrus was her grandfather. Cyrus first attended Heritage Elementary School in Tennessee. Cyrus began her acting career during the same time. Her father was the lead as Doc in Doc (2001). She also scored a small part on Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003). As of 2005, Cyrus was cast as the lead for The Disney series Hannah Montana (2006), about a teen leading a double life as pop-star. The show's director was her father was also in the show alongside the character. The show was a huge success with sold-out tours, hit records and merchandise deals were also in the pipeline. Cyrus was a teenage superstar. Cyrus began taking on other roles following her success with Hannah Montana (2006). These included playing Ronnie Miller (in The Last Song in 2010) and Lola (in LOL (2012)), alongside Demi Moor.
